Spicy Michelada Cocktail with Umami Reserve

Ah, the Michelada. The perfect beer cocktail to quench your thirst and spice up your afternoon. Now, some may say that the Michelada is an acquired taste. But for those of us who appreciate the savory and the spicy, this drink is a true gem. And today, we're taking it to the next level with our Extra Spicy Michelada, featuring the one and only Umami Reserve.

Now, for those of you who may not be familiar with umami, it's the fifth taste - beyond sweet, sour, salty, and bitter - that brings a savory richness. And our Umami Reserve Hot Sauce is packed with plant-based sources of umami that will take your Michelada to new heights. No more relying on those old standbys like Tabasco and Worcestershire sauce, which, let's be honest, have their limitations. And did you know that Worcestershire sauce contains fish products? Not exactly vegan-friendly, my friends.

What you need: (1 serving)

  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
  • 1 lime wedge
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 4 dashes Umami Reserve Hot Sauce
  • 1 pinch ground black pepper
  • 1 pinch celery salt
  • 1 bottle Mexican lager beer, chilled
  • Garnish: lime wedge


  1. Combine the salt, cayenne, black pepper, lime juice, hot sauce, and celery salt at the bottom of your glass. 
  2. Pour the beer over the ingredients. Stir if you like, but not too much. Garnish with lime and enjoy!
